Bakugan Game

BAKUGAN GAME BOTH FUN AND EDUCATIONAL

Bakugan

Bakugan is a strategic game developed by Sega Toys and Spin Master and released in conjunction with the anime series TV series. The game uses metal cards and magnetic spring-loaded miniature figures, called Bakugan. The objective of the game is to capture three of the opponent's gate cards or defeat all their Bakugan

According to Wikipedia, the game requires and develops skills of strategy and mathematics. I would also add some fine motor skills development, as well as the skills developed by most games of learning to compete in a civiilized manner, to win or lose with grace, and to take turns and play withing the rules. In spite of these lofty aims, you may as well admit it, believe it, accept it: Kids want to play this game because it's fun. Kids are as obsessed with Bakugan this year as they used to be with Pokegon. This clever and exciting interactive game may remind you of Magic the Gathering, but this is much easier and more active for kids. Even kids not familiar with the TV show will will enjoy playing this game.

One reviewer at Amazon said, "the game is decently fun for an adult, but the kids are crazy over it. They won't stop playing. My son (almost 6) hasn't touched a video game, watched tv, or played with any other toys since he got it. He just spends all his free time with his Bakugan " while another said his kids "they played with them constantly! My daughter has not been on Webkinz in a week! "

HOW TO PLAY THE BAKUGAN GAME

In a 2 player game, each player has 3 Bakugan and tries to be the first to capture 3 Gate cards.

You start the Bakugan game with 3 Bakugan and, 3 Gate cards: one of each color, (Gate cards are heavier and they make the Bakugan openup) and 3 Ability cards: one of each color. Players sit about two or three feet apart on a smooth, flat playing surface. This area is called the Field. You should keep unused cards in their hands or face down so your opponent can't see the face. Unused Bakugan should be closed up like little marbles. A 'used' pile on player's left holds played Ability cards, Gate cards won, and used Bakugan.
Saying, “Field - Open!” begins the game.

Each player places one Gate card face down (i.e., the Bakugan logo is face up) in front of their opponent, so that they barely touch each other at their top, while saying, “Gate Card - Set!” (Note: Setting Gate cards occurs at the start of any turn where there are no Gate cards in the field). The youngest player goes first, then they take turns.
The player whose turn it is selects a Bakugan and says, “Bakugan - Brawl!” and then rolls one of his unused Bakugan at the Gate cards in the field.

If the Bakugan opens on a Gate card and there’s no other Bakugan on that Gate, it is now the other player’s turn.
If the Bakugan opens on a Gate card and the other player has a Bakugan on that Gate card, Battle ensues
If the Bakugan opens on a Gate card and this player already has a Bakugan on this card, one of two things happen:
-If there’s no other Gate card in play or this player already has a Bakugan on the other Gate card, this player wins that Gate card uncontested, placing it and his two Bakugan in his used pile. It then becomes the other player’s turn.
-Otherwise this Bakugan is moved to the other Gate card. If that Gate card doesn’t have an opponent’s Bakugan, it is the other player’s turn. But if it does, the Battle begins

Battle is Bakugan vs. Bakugan and happens whenever Bakugan from two different players end up on the same Gate card.
Detach the two Bakugan from the Gate card and read each Bakugan’s G-Power.
Gate Reveal: Flip the Gate card over and do what it says.
Ability Cards: Play Ability cards (if desired) – first, by the player whose turn it is. Each Ability card says when it can be played. Tell your opponent that you are playing the card, do what the card says and then put the card in your Used pile.
Gate Card G-Power Boost: After both players are finished playing Ability cards, each Bakugan gets to add the Gate Card G-Power boost. Simply match the color of a Bakugan to the color symbol on the Gate card and add that number to the Bakugan’s G-Power.
The battle is won by the Bakugan that now has the higher G-Power. The player who wins the battle puts the Gate card in their used pile.
In the event of a tie: Each player rolls an unused Bakugan. First Bakugan to stand on a Gate card wins
The first player to get 3 Gate cards in their used pile wins!

BAKUGAN GAME FUN FOR ALL AGES

Bakugan toys are recommended for ages 5 and up. Many young teens enjoy playing and collecting just as much as the little ones do.
